Harold Willey Lee (1907-), PhD, was a Stanford and Brigham Young University graduate who was the former BYU department chairman of modern and classical languages. He also served as a mission president in France and as a patriarch in Provo. Harold Willey Lee was born 13 October 1907 in Cardston, Canada. Plans for the David O. McKay building began in 1952 after an evaluation by the Brigham Young University College of Education concluded that the existing building for the College of Education were no longer meeting the growing needs of the program.
